Supervisor Frank Mecham Endorses Dan Dow for District Attorney
San Luis Obispo, CA – Deputy District Attorney Dan Dow has received the endorsement of County Supervisor Frank Mecham. Dow is running to replace District Attorney Gerry Shea who announced that he would retire after more than 15 years in office. Even though Dow announced just last week, he continues to build broad support from community members, colleagues, and trusted leaders such as Supervisor Mecham.
“From Deputy District Attorney, community leader, and veteran, to a Candidate for San Luis Obispo County DA, Dan continues to exemplify the utmost commitment to the betterment of our county and the safety of our residents. His passion for public service will make San Luis Obispo County a better place, and that’s why I am supporting him,” said Supervisor Mecham when asked about his endorsement.
Dan Dow has always demonstrated a desire to serve both his local community and his country. Still serving as an Army Major, Command Judge Advocate, Dan was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn and to Kosovo under Operation Enduring Freedom. Dow broadened his experience as a prosecutor by prosecuting Courts-Martial while in Iraq. He brings his extensive experience to the courtrooms of San Luis Obispo County. Now as a Deputy District Attorney, Dow specializes in the prosecution of homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse crimes.
Dow’s commitment to serve goes further than just the courtroom, as a dedicated father, Dan knows how important it is to provide for his family and ensure their security. For that reason, Dow regularly speaks at women’s shelters and events, seeking to provide financial and emotional support to victims of the crimes he prosecutes. He believes the criminal justice system has a moral obligation to be a voice of strength for those without a voice.
Now, Dan Dow is looking to continue providing a voice for our residents, families, and business owners as the next District Attorney for San Luis Obispo County. Dan and his wife Wendy have been married for 21 years. They have two children, Chloe, age 8 and Jedidiah, age 6.
