Former Assistant DA Dan Hilford Endorses Dan Dow for District Attorney
San Luis Obispo, CA – Candidate for San Luis Obispo County District Attorney, Dan Dow has received the endorsement of former Assistant District Attorney Dan Hilford. As an integral member of the department for nearly forty years, Hilford’s endorsement underlines Dow’s commitment to the County as a Deputy District Attorney as well as his focus on ensuring safety for local residents.
When asked about his endorsement, Hilford said, “Dan will be a fine District Attorney and will provide the outstanding leadership necessary for both the Office as well as the criminal justice system. Most importantly, the people of San Luis Obispo County can have the confidence that he will bring criminals to justice, stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves, and continue to make this county a safe place to live and work.”
As a Deputy District Attorney, Dan has focused on prosecuting domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse crimes, including homicide where he seeks to bring justice for defenseless victims of particularly devastating crimes. Dow values his work as a public servant, and considers his ability to help victims while holding offenders accountable for their actions a privilege.
Dan Dow’s commitment to providing justice for the victims of senseless crimes goes further than his local communities. Currently serving as a Major, Command Judge Advocate in the Army National Guard, Dan has been deployed three times during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. Recently, Dan played a vital role in the launch of the SLO Veterans Treatment Court that seeks to address the growing number of veterans entering the criminal justice system.
Dan and his wife Wendy, a local small business owner and reading instructor, have been married for 21 years. They have two children, Chloe, age 8 and Jedidiah, age 6.
